BTW, I got an anonymous seize and desist from Higgins lawyer, this morning. If I want to keep my modest assets, I need to change my ways.
One solution might be to use the PM/Carey defense; ban the word "Higgins" so that it never passes my cyber lips again.

I got an anonymous email from somebody claiming to represent cmiddleton, GT and R Higgins and requesting that I delete all reference to those individuals from Huntmasters, or else.
So, I "really" got it, but believe it to be phony, for several reasons and intend ignore it. If it was authentic, I would think it would arrive via registered mail, not an untraceable email account.
Hey, cops really take things mucho serious, huh?

Lawyers don't send threats via anon email. So somebody is still pulling your chain. The whole anon email thing is just so chickenshit. I'm not sure I even buy the 'frequent poster in good standing' angle, either. I don't even know you personally, yet I expect if I wanted to proffer an opinion to you ref forgiving someone, etc. I could do it openly, either on forum or using my legit email addy, in such a fashion that got my point across without risking castration if you didn't agree with me, so anything coming at you anonymously I'd disregard and classify as coming from a provocateur.
Cops tend to be an inquisitive sort, that is what leads them to ask themselves, and others, pertinent questions which sometimes lead to the truth (and arrests). And I try to avoid being serious..it interferes with my sense of humor.
Looks to me like either you pissed somebody off or somebody has recreationally decided to yank your chain for shits and giggles. They are trying to get a reaction. If you give them one, they will prolly continue.
Maybe 49 is right. Maybe Higgins regrets the status of y'alls relationship and yearns for a rapprochement. I can speak from experience in that respect. I had a dear friend who for a variety of reasons started acting against her own long-term best interests. I had to betray her in order to save her from herself. I didn't do it 'to' her...I did it 'for' her. She now hates me, in every sense of that word. And every day, every fucking day, I miss her and her husband, who was also a dear friend of mine. I miss them beyond belief. In my mind I replay all the good times we all had, and there was a bunch. If I could make things right between us, I would. But I can't. Because she hates me that much.
So I would say to you, Leonard, not because I have any dogs in this fight, because I don't know diddly shit what went on between you and Higgins, I don't know either of you personally, but I would say this...life is too short to go through it hating someone or carrying a grudge. It gives you a black heart. Forgiveness sets you free. Maybe Higgins did do you wrong, but you still have the power to forgive, to attribute his actions to human frailty and poor judgement and move on. But nobody can make that choice for you. It's yours to make, either way you prefer.
I'm not meanin' to get all up in your business, and if what I have said offends you, then I apologize. I'm just waxin' philosophical...

There was a guy at work. He got involved with a friend of mine, leading to, how shall I say...serious difficulties. I carried a black heart for him. Every time one of us was in a room and the other walked in, you could feel the tension..it was palpable. If his name came up in a group conversation, I would have to get up and leave because I was so angry with him. But then a friend (the one who hates me now, ironically) showed me another way, and one day while working overtime right after Christmas I typed him on his car computer and asked him how he was and if he had a good holiday. I forgave him. The weight of the world was lifted off of my shoulders..and his as well. He told my friend how relieved he was that things were better between us and that whenever he saw me before the air would be so thick he couldn't stand it.
We only live once, and each day is precious and irreplaceable and should be lived and enjoyed to the utmost. There just isn't enough time in this life to hate and carry a black heart.

All well and good, but I don't hate the dink. Whatever gave you that idea?
We used to be very close, (I thought?) and suddenly there were certain actions that made it very clear to me that we were not friends, any longer. Kind of a shock, but believe me, there is no black heart involved, at least on my part.
But, I will not allow a second chance, circumstances being what they were, and such. And yet I accept and acknowledge that life is, indeed, too short. It's regrettable and unrepairable.
There are things, certain actions, and spoken words that have consequences. This situation doesn't involve misunderstandings. These actions were deliberate, you can't just lamely brush them off, and you sure as hell wouldn't create a public spectacle and with every detail make yourself look pure of heart and reasonable, and the other guy bitter and mistaken. Fuck that.
But, another thing. I sure as hell considered this to be a personal matter and completely inappropriate for the Board. Besides everything else, what he did coming in here, I found to be very offensive and it embarrassed me. Wrong move, Amigo.
So, we all need to get over it. I promise, I'm not all broken up about it, it is without a doubt, another of life's lessons learned.
