This was one of the Calf killers. Got her at 311 yards with a 75 gr V-Mac from my Howa 243.

I know we are going into the summer doldrums. So I will give a New Case Sod Buster pocket knife in the box to who ever comes the closest on her weight. In the event of a tie. One will get the Knife, The other gets the box. Contest will end Sunday at midnight.

HINTS
36" Long. 9"through the chest, Head is 10" long. Good luck.

13-13 not even in the ball park, but it does have a certain flair? Kind of rolls off the tongue?
22-22 is more esthetically pleasing than 23-6. Artistic license.

I speculate that the weight is...... 24 lbs, 9 ounces.

Wait a moment. Did the vmax stay inside or did it exit??????????????????

Looks like a place for an exit. With that much blood loss then I revise my Swag to 24 lbs, 8 ounces.

If this don't show how hard it is to judge something such as this, I'll be a monkey's uncle. (non-spanking)

Guesses all over the place, from 13 to 31 pounds!

How many guesses are allowed, Ronnie? Hi and Lo field okay? [Smile]

You have mentioned, in the past, that a lot of your local coyotes don't fur up normally, so I suppose you have a real good idea what one weighs, before you ever put it on a scale. For the rest of us, it's something not often seen.

I love those Sodbusters! LB

Word's out that the inflatable sheep that was intercepted in Big Sandy, Texas last fall has slowly made its way to Orange, Texas. Should I send a patch kit, pack of smokes and new valve stem?

Y'all gone and done did it.

Some of you TEXAN's ought be shamed guessing like y'all have. Too low.

We all know that everything in TEXAS is big. Even the Crabgrass.

If that ol doggie was furred up Id say 26lbs. But that is one slicked out dog, all muscle and sinew.

If that there dog aint at least 35, Ill move to Oklahoma tomorrow.

My expert guess is gonna be 36 lbs and 13 change.

Interesting question. Let see it looks like a young animal that hasn't gotten a full growth of hair yet, but its way to big for this years pup unless it was dropped very early, hmmmmm it is from texas so I've got to factor that into the equation. The legs are very long for its body and I can't see his head very well but it is big in comparison to the chest..... his chest is not deep ..... With a 10" head his body looks to be about 2 feet long, small animal ...... I think he's a young dog so my official guess is ............ 16# 2oz.

For all you inexperienced lurkers that have been too shy to toss your hat into the ring on this, I'm gonna offer a bit of advice about this here coyoteee. This'll help you a lot. Truth is, this coyote has just as much hair as any other coyote. The reason it looks so thin is that this here coyotee is so durned big, the hide's all stretched out, making what hair is there look all the thinner. If I was you, I'd start my guessin' at no less than three digits. [Wink]

And if that don't suit ya, we'll probably find out Monday that Ronnie done went and shot the neighbor's dog and he's just trying to build a list of "expert witnesses" that, like him, could-a swore that was a coyote!

Varmint Hunter,

Do you actually have scales that show Ounces, or after all these guesses started showing up, did you have to run him into the local store after hours and weigh him there?

Maybe it's just time I bought some new scales. I still use an old brass set my Grandfather gave to me, Hangs on a nail in the rafters and has a half pound hash mark.

It's probably 50-60 years old, but I figured it was close enough for Redneck math.

Scales ............ ole Ronnie has a 20' 2x6 plank with several notches bout 1/2" apart ...
Yote goes on one end and Ronnie stands (really sits) on the other end of the plank.......... and Mrs Judy slides a cinder block back and forth until both are balanced......... Den the notch # is multiplied times a family secret formula.............. [Confused] [Confused]

well by now, the coyote has bloated... dehydrated and possibly been eaten by some animals of prey..... That weight is going down daily, unlike mine which goes the other way...

Posted by Tim Behle (Member # 209) on June 18, 2004, 05:21 PM:

Ronnie,

People told me I was nuts to move to the desert. But it was only 93 here today, with 15% humidity. Felt like the low 80's back in Indiana.

I may have to get up in the morning and check the batteries in my caller and maybe test the zero on the scope. I'd hate to have fall sneak up on me and not be ready.

Posted by Norm (Member # 240) on June 18, 2004, 08:33 PM:

Leonard... there you go thinking again...

Mr. Tim didn't say anything about shooting a coyote... he could be checking his zero on all them there jackalopes that come running to that caller of his... [Big Grin]

Yeah, I know dat, Norm. I just didn't want to see him give in to temptation, and then get in trouble w/ you know who?

What about yourself? Been out callin?

Good hunting. LB

Posted by Norm (Member # 240) on June 19, 2004, 06:32 AM:

I have not been out callin... waiting for the 19-223 barrel to arrive, then get some loads working...

I may go out and call and do some filming... but work is haywire... honey do's galore...a new bow to tune... elk hunt to get in shape for.. the list goes on...

There was three of us looking at those scales (That are very correct). The two cowboys have never heard of this board.

MR.elpasotbagger send me you're address. You have a new Case Sodbuster waiting.

She was 37 lbs even.

When I went to pick her up I figured 26 tops. When I picked her up. I said maybee 33. The cowboy that hung her on the scales said 35 lbs. Nope a very solid 37 lbs.
