I got skunked on the mulie bowhunt.

Heading for Buford (CO) in a couple days to hunt elk with a rifle though. Talked to the outfitter last night and he said hunting has been lousy so far, but maybe I'll get lucky [Smile] .

Hey Loco how ya doing? How are the critters and chick? What about you, any luck?

Due to lack of hunting time this fall my brother and I each killed cow elk. Yeah, I know, not real glamorous but damn that cow has been some fine eating. It really was a fun and relaxing hunt. I just may do it again next year if the schedule looks tight. I packed the .270 that took a whole summer's wages to buy when I was 14 years old.

DAA, Good luck on the CO hunt. One thing about it, If the hunting has been lousy so far that means more bulls left for you.

Canine, I'll be staying with Tom Tucker. His family owns the Buford store there.

Good point Lonny! I've been looking at this as a pretty relaxed "meat" hunt. Starting to sound like I'll have to work pretty hard to have a chance for a freezer full of elk. That's fine by me though, it'll be a lot of fun, regardless. And the way I'm wired, I actually have more fun when I have to work harder at it anyway.

Heey Lonny, thanks for asking about the fam'. I go up Nov.3 and stay until Nov. 8. It is a combined season. I always apply for a buck and cow tag. Those cows are spectactular eating. My family will gobble up a whole elk by late summer. This year I didn't draw for the cow so I'll just buy an over the counter bull tag. I'd love to shoot a big bull but my area provides for a much bettter chance at a big buck. They're easier to drag too! [Smile]

Oh as a bonus, I usually shoot a blue grouse with my 30.06 every year too; aim for the brain!

Good luck at Buford, (great looking country up there) I'd try to make a trip to see you but I think I can probably get to Utah faster! [Smile]
