a bunch of teams this year, none perfect, but who is actually the best?

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on January 07, 2008, 02:06 PM:

Just mentioning...USC pummeled Illinois; who beat Ohio St.

Posted by Brad Norman (Member # 234) on January 07, 2008, 02:47 PM:

That's a tough one Leonard. Illinois got beat by Missouri who beat Kansas but got beat by Oklahoma twice. Oklahoma got beat by West Virginia who lost to Pittsburgh. USC got beat by Stanford who got beat by everyone....

What do you think of a playoff? That would tell us who is playing best at the end of the year but would tend to make the regular season less exciting.

Absolutely, Brad! I'm tired of these friggin' computer wennies deciding these things. LB

PS, on the other hand, nobody in their right mind wants to play USC, right now.

I gotta agree Leonard. USC right now looks to be the best in country.

Playoffs??? What the heck!! I love the tradition that these outdated bowl games serve. And on top of that we never really know who is the best in the country because the computer just gives us the two teams that appear the best on paper.

Most definetly we need a playoff.

Alright, I`ll be the one to say it, USC sucks, I hope LSU wins tonight but I suspect the Buckeyes will prevail.

JD, you don't know dick! USC sucks what, exactly?

edit: oh, I get it. SC slaughtered Nebraska, huh?

Will the member that voted for Ohio State please come forward? What were you thinking?

Posted by smithers (Member # 646) on January 07, 2008, 07:16 PM:

I put my vote in for LSU. The lesser of two evils.
At the end of the day LSU has to leave it all on the field. If the players just do their part... [Roll Eyes]

Blah blah blah blah....I can`t hear you!!!!

I voted LSU, but I really thought OSU would put on more of a show than this, they`ve got an entire half left so we`ll see.

One thing is for sure though....USC aint gonna win this game now are they!!! LOL LOL [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] ha ha ha ha ohhh man, sometimes you crack myself up.

Maybe we should have USC play Hawaii, they did really good this year too. [Razz] [Razz]

Yeah. NE sure handed them their ass, didn't they?

Come on JD don't be a little puss. You know who SHOULD be playing? If not for provincial attitudes. You know, like yours. USC is the best football team in the nation.

Posted by Norm (Member # 240) on January 07, 2008, 08:07 PM:

i seem to recall that the newspapers are saying that the two teams playing right now are playing for the national championship.... unless I missed something... USC is not playing right now.... so that seems to eliminate them from the champonship game......

I am sure that some politician will find a way to influence the BCS to go above and beyond this game tonite as input for determining the answer to the question, who is #1; RajnCajn answered that question, many moons ago...

Did you just call me a little puss with a provincial attitude??

I`ll check again but I`m fairly sure USC isn`t on the field tonight.

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on January 07, 2008, 09:03 PM:

Yes, I did. Because. The question is who deserves to be National Champion, not who is playing in the BCS game. LB

Posted by Norm (Member # 240) on January 07, 2008, 09:05 PM:

the team that won tonite, deserves to be national champs.... those are the rules and everyone had an equal opportunity to get there... two did and many many many, did not.... there is always next year....

Posted by RagnCajn (Member # 879) on January 07, 2008, 09:06 PM:

WEll I do believe the question of who deserves to be called Champions was just answered on National Television. Same as last time they played.

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on January 07, 2008, 09:09 PM:

Okay, I will give it to ya, Randy. Congratulations. They played a great game.

Good hunting. LB

We still need some type of playoff. I don't like mathematics deciding a National Championship......

Posted by RagnCajn (Member # 879) on January 07, 2008, 09:21 PM:

Mathmatics decided who would play, The players decided who would be called champions. I agree we need a playoff, but till then?

After watching last night's game, I would love to see a healthy USC play a healthy LSU. That was the game we all thought we would see last August. Oh yeah, Georgia looked pretty damned good also.

As much as I enjoy taking pokes at USC(and Leonard) I agree that a playoff is needed but I seriously doubt it will happen any time soon, not that it makes a damn bit of difference to Husker fans as of lately although Bo is gonna save us, I hope he can walk on water.

Voting 6 times over in your own poll is kinda low Leonard, get some help.

*upon further review:

USC 35% (6)
LSU 47% (5)
Ohio St 6% (1)
Georgia 6% (1)
Kansas 6% (1)

Considering that SC didn't play, not too bad.

oh wait! Just like the Miss America Pagent, there was some sort of glitch. USC won! Wow! Pays to doublecheck these things. Sorry!
