Anybody? What's going on? Social event of the season? Inquiring minds, etc.

I'm curious as well

I just hope that the Huntmasters guys who went made us all proud by getting into a fist fight or slapping some chick on the ass or getting hauled off to jail or something.

I read that our friend JD won at least one division of the calling contest, but I haven't seen who won overall championship.

I went.

I did get a laugh when I noticed the table the Higgins duo and DanC were at, was directly across from PM's table. I heard someone was putting DanC's business card on their table each night. hehehe

Listened to the Coyote vocalization contest. I have no idea how the judges were able to do what they did. I couldn't pick who I thought were the top 5.

Went to several seminars and bought some stuff. I enjoyed Lance's seminar on Coons, once it finally got moving. Came home the same day we went, so I was a little tired.

I expected it to be bigger, but it was what it was. Didn't spend as much as I had anticipated, or do any time in the local lockup. So it was a good time for me.

Just got back. Thanks, Dan. As he eluded to, we had a bit of trouble getting off the ground. The projector through which we were to run our laptop for our Power Point had a jumble of wires running from it and our hookup failed to work. The tech guy that was supposed to be there to troubleshoot things wasn't, so we had to wait about fifteen minutes for him to simply walk in and push one button. [Confused]

But, the demo went well, and had a few great questions at the end. Everyone seemed to laugh when they were supposed to and didn't when they weren't. Having been brought up short on time, I really figured I'd have to go at it like an auctioneer, then to wrap things up, yell, "SOLD!!!" really loud and bring everyone back to the real world.

As far as fights and fisticuffs, none of that. Actually, you'll be surprised at just how much the air seemed to clear by putting all the various players in the same room and well within arm's reach of one another. I have a picture of Mike Dillon and Rich chumming it up, as well as pics of "the Steves" - Steve Borland and Steve Dillon. Same thing.

Last night, everyone who is anyone, and I all headed out to Hooter's when the Expo Center shut down. All in all, about 75 of us invaded the place and the service couldn't have been worse , and looked better. [Mad] [Big Grin] [Mad] [Big Grin]

I've got a bunch of pics that I'll get downloaded later when I get the chance and will post them as soon as I can.

It was a great event. Lotsa fine folks from the various boards to meet and greet and I spent most of two days trying to "Higgins" (work the room). No sooner would I finally catch up to someone I wanted to talk to for a bit when someone else would go walking by and slap me on the shoulder as they passed. I'm pretty worn out just from chasing people down for two days!

Lotsa good vendors and I managed to affirm some old contacts and make some new ones. It was a good time.

Agreed, if there was a category for "working a room" Higgins would win it.

Good hunting. LB

Thanks for the pics and stories guys. Looking forward to more.

But two questions..

1. Why isn't the Sultan wearing his Turban? This is not good. Some of us wonder if the Sultan is abandoning the teachings of the Prophet in a attempt to endear himself to the infidels. He could have at least wore a Fez. Where is my explosive belt??

2. All you killers invaded Hooters and the Police weren't called???....amateurs

Mule,

I've only been thrown out of Hooters twice, I wish that there was one closer to home so I could get rid of my amateur status.

But Joyce did get a picture of me wearing a Fez yesterday, maybe I could give Higgins some pointers?

CDog,

Don't just accuse the service of being poor, show us some pictures of them so we can judge for ourselves?

Tim,

My wife went with me to the Expo and graciously stayed at the hotel with our daughter while I went cavorting with the pack of wild dogs. (Bless her heart.) Upon my return back to the hotel, I assured her, without re$ervation , that had our waitress not had the boobs and butt going for her, she wouldn't have been worth a crap. Now, having said that, you have to be pretty damned bad to still lose the tip when you're walking around in the uniforms they wear (quite nicely, I might add) and sporting the curves and crevices they boast. But, she sure as hell did. I'm thinking that Higgins might have left her .07, but I'm not sure. If that's even close, he was generous.

Kelly that reminds me I need to send Joe a picture with his "old" call and a bear from last week, and give him a bad time for not being able to bring it in with his new call since they weren't quite ready.

Congrats Kee and JD. Those are some fine looking trophies.

If anyone ever makes it to Spokane, I would be happy to help them get thrown out of our local Hooters.

This is Tyler now ha. I have to say congrats to JD and Brent for taking 1st and 3rd in the vocal competition. I cant help but say i might be a little bummed that me and my dad didn't place, but I'd rather lose to the best then win against the worst and JD and Brent were flawless. I also got to see some of the video that they are coming out with in September i think, but the video is going to be great. OH Brent and JD... tell Steve I have already ran out of the gum and I'm having withdrawals. [Frown]

The Expo was lots of fun and it was great seeing new and known faces again. I met lots of great guys I have seen online for a long time now.
The contest was nerve racking at times as I could tell it was for many others. I was glad I talked myself into entering as it will be an experience I won't soon forget. It took lots of time and effort for both Brents to put this together along with all their volunteer help.

Hope to see you guys soon or at St. Francis.

That chick made some remark at the bar when Higgins and I were trying to get our beers renewed and neither of us had a damned idea one what she said, but we both started laughing anyway. Then, while Dan's ripping our waitress a new ass at the cash register, I turned around and noticed that the blonde chick won an award that was posted by the door leading out. I was okay with the picture, but the title of the award kinda set me back for a second. It said "Hooter Girl of the Period". And, I thought, Oh... my... God!" I pointed it out to Matt Staser and Jason Bruce, both from the Midwest board and once they got over the initial shock, they both started laughing, too. I was glad to see that I wasn't the only one with the f'd up sense of humor to catch the turn of phrase in that.

Here's a pic of the crowd. I don't know why the kid in the front seems to be flipping me off, but it sure looks like he is.

 -

Here's another of Higgins and Tyler working their respective tables, both being the life of the party. At least, until Tony Tebbe started that chicken dance thing with the broom stick. Higgins just wouldn't try to keep up.

 -

Finally, a picture for the ages, and you saw it here first...

 -

Rich Higgins and Mike Dillon, both smiling, and actually getting along quite well. I jumped in there to be part of history - no other reason, but contrary to what I'd been reading, I didn't find a single FP guy with horns sticking out of his head. Well, maybe Randy Watson, but he wouldn't take off his hat to prove otherwise.

And definitely finally, the Beastmaster - Gerry - during his talk. I had front row seats.

 -

Ya know, if I didn't know any better, Id think he and Miss Beverly are kinda sweet on each other.

Nice pic, Lance. From the expression on your face I can tell that Mike and I goosed you at the same time.
When I met Mike and shook his hand for the first time I had to chuckle at the memory of Newt Gingrich's account of his meetings with Bill Clinton. He said he tried to regard Clinton as the opposition, but Clinton was so charming and charismatic that he made Newt feel warm and fuzzy inside.. [Smile] That's Mike Dillon. Commanding presence, warm and sincere. Even Crusty Dan liked him. Although when I introduced them and I identified Dan as they were shaking hands, Mike blurted out "Son of a bitch", an exclamation, not calling Dan a name. He did have a smile on his face and he did approach Dan later, shook his hand and told Dan he was sincere. Dan trusts his BS meter and it did not go off. Dan couldn't help but like the man also.
I talked with Steve Dillon a couple of times at length and truly like that guy. Very unassuming, very genuine, and fascinated with the history of predator calling. I would have liked to spend more time talking with him. They bought the stock and the rights to the Pied Piper calls and Steve gave me one of the first bite calls in an original box and he graciously signed the box for me. Mike and Steve both signed my Predator Calls book.

I find this contest thing, and the reports of it, somewhat interesting...
(*Even though I think "platform" calling contests are stupid)

Call makers so often tout their "championships", but there isn't a single mention of the calls used by the contest participants?

Yeah, I am kinda fishin' to find out... who used Krusty Kriers in the contest?
And who used other calls, and what were they?

*I'd never use it as an advertising tool, I'm truly "just curious". [Smile]

Let’s see if I can remember all the names and placings. The top 5 in the World overall division were John Paul Moody, Garvin Young, JD Piatt, Ernie Wilson and Myself (those are in no particular order). John Paul Moody was the overall champion.

In the Vocalization division JD was 1st, myself was 2nd and Brent Saxton was 3rd.

In the Distress division Seth Skinner was 1st, There was a 3 way tie for 2nd and they had a call off (I can't remember who was second), 3rd place was Ernie and 4th place was JD.

I think there were 27 or 28 callers.

Hope that fills in everybody that did not make it.

I do not know you well enough for me to think what you say is sincere or not. I have however noticed in other posts that you very firmly and strongly believe what ever you say weather it is correct or not. So I take your statement as the real deal and would have never even thought about it until you asked if I think so or not.

Thanks for the kind words; a good friend of mine Tim D. owner of D3 Game Calls did this call sound at the PPHA calling event. However I still won the event in PA. But Tim still helped me prefect this chicken sound just in case I needed to use it. It truly is a cool sound.

If I do not get to do the stage predator calling thing ever again, it was a pleasure to compete on the same stage with you.

Don't tell "Shasta" I said this but she could stand to lose 5 or 15 lb's...
I'm just sayin. Tighten things up a little. [Wink]

I must say that the young be-hooetered brunette on Thane's right, our left, is smoooooooking hot!
I wonder if she is into grown men wearing diapers hanging from poles. [Confused]

And, I get the feeling this is only the mild stuff they can show us? Must have been a wild ride?

Good hunting. LB

Hey smithers,

In the interest of full disclosure and fair play, why don't you show us a little something to see how you stack up? My best guess, without knowing you, is that you could shed a few, too. I'm just saying.....

I thought this was a coyote hunting forum. My computer is in the living room and so is my family. I don't need that kind of crap popping up while I'm reading about coyote hunting so if this is what this board is turning into I'm going to have to tune out. Nothing personal.

Nothing personal in this reply, either, Cal.

Accept my apologies, we will try to keep things a little less racy, henceforth.

If you (or anybody else) don't approve of what you see here, then it makes perfect sense to find a less offensive site? The content here is adult oriented, language and visually, although we do not encourage nudity or vulgarity , unfortunately, there is no editing, and no deleting except in extreme circumstances.

By the way, in case you had not noticed, the predator hunting forum is the fourth from the top.

Good hunting. LB

Cdog, I'm a GUY, nobody cares about my weight except for well, nobody...
I could shed a couple ounces, maybe. But that's neither here nor there, I am not the one with my HOOTERS hanging out!
I'm the critic not the star. Nobody wants to know which movies Roger Ebert has been in lately... [Big Grin]
