I don't post here much, but thought I would share some pictures from today.
We found this hog leaving some corn and cut wheat fields. We dumped 3 dogs and they took him 3/4 of a mile before they got
him bayed up,when we got to the bay we turned loose the bulldog
and the hog went to working over the dogs.We got him killed but he cut all 4 dogs, nothing bad but we did have to staple up a couple. This hog had 2'' cutters.

We guessed this hog to weigh around 225. Also all of these dogs
belong to my buddy. I had 2 nice pups that got ran over a few weeks ago so I'm dog poor for the time being. I know hunting with
dogs is not for everyone but I sure enjoy it.

About 20 years ago one of the drivers at U.P.S. told me about shooting a pig that ran around 600 lbs out in Myakka City with his 7mm Rem Mag. There's lots of pigs in Florida, but I've never paid them any mind. A lot of these ol' boys love to pig hunt, some trap them alive and feed'em to fatten them up, then slaughter them. I find it hard to get worked up over a pig. I prefer deer and turkeys.

There's a lot of dog hunters in Florida, too, mainly cuz it can be so thick, esp. with the palmetto bushes and such.

Too cool and good looking dogs. I always wonder what my curs would do with a hog...they certainly have to be tough SOB'S. Do you guys run the vests on your dogs at all?

yea we run vests on the catch dog and one of my little bay dogs thats real catchy, i dont like a vest cause its so hot but some dogs need them, heres another one from this morning, and after this one i'm out of dogs for a week or so

Hey, is that ginseng in the upper part?

Those dogs look of mixed parentage, but one looks a little like a blue tick?

your out of luck kj she's aready there, ha, plus i got her going in some beaver holes now so she better just stay here.

lb, i have alot of reasons for docking them but none would make sense to most people, for one i hate to hear a dogs tail beat on the side of a dog box, another one is i dont like getting hit by a tail while leading dogs, if they have them when i get them then it will stay but if i raise them its coming off. it probably all goes back to when i was alittle kid and all our dog would run by and hit me with a wagging tail, ha

Del, I used to go to Fla every year and hog hunt with my ex's family. I used to trade alot of dogs with them. You are right, that country has alot of hogs. They lived in the Wildwood area. They ranched there, but have since sold out and are now in southern Ga.

Lb, we just always docked their tails just because it was always done. I was always told that it gave a hog less to bite ahold of.....who knows. I prefer them that way though.

CrossJ,

Yeah, Wildwood is just SW of the Ocala Forest, where I've hunted many a time. We followed a pair of hogs down a dirt road over at Camp Blanding one morning before daylight..they acted like they owned the road, running right down the middle before finally heading into some palmettos. Saw piglets up there, too.

I stepped in a gopher tortoise hole one morning before daylight heading back into the woods at Ocala. My one leg went all the way down until my body prevented it from going any further. I was feared there might be a rattlesnake down there, as they will take over a gopher hole. I came rocketing up outta there like an ICBM from a silo at Vandenberg! Pucker factor was pretty high for a couple of seconds there.
