We don't use them, in California. Don't know a lot about them, but I think there might be a few pics over on PM, of Watson's truck? Used to be, anyway?

Catmando,
Texans use high rigs frequently for whitetail and hogs. Also common for night-calling predators.
There has got to be a fair number of pictures online for you to ponder. Try google images.

Yeah, I always thought a high rack was something found on a deer, guess not? Leonard, if they don't use high racks in California, what do they use?

A Cali-rig is somewhere between a Stealth Fighter and a Bradly, it also is most active at night.

So, whatever happened to 10 deadhorses (the scent)??
I've heard it spoken of at trapping conventions with awe & reverence but have never even seen an ad for it.
I was beginning to think it was one of those 'legends'.

Yeah, lots of old legends around nowadays. I think Leonard is talking about someone using that nic in a different forum. I have no idea who that could be, maybe an old trapper or predator caller from long ago Kokopelli, I found it Andrews Sporting Goods back in the late 70s or so in Long Beach of all places. It was pretty good stuff, you could smell it a block away.

Onecoyote, I think that Andrews got bought out by Turners. I've bought quite a bit of trap lure there, in the 'fish scents' aisle. I'll check it out the next time I'm in The Valley of San Fernando.

Your right, I think the guys name was Bill Andrews. I think his ex wife has or had something to do with Turners. I don't think they carry 10deadhorses anymore. Did you know the CVCA once had a chapter in San Fernando. They droped out back in about the mid 70s, I know Leonard remembers them. Dick Docheff placed 3rd on a state hunt I was on once, he was always a little over weight. I always wondered how he got up and down them hills to get all those cats. Like you said Leonard, he was the first guy I ever saw with a .17 and that was a custom .17 at that. [ July 14, 2005, 09:24 PM: Message edited by: onecoyote ]
