What type of bulb do you guys in the night hunting business like best? Halogen, LED, xenon, krypton? I am personally a fan of the halogen bulb as it seems softer (natural) to me. Not that any bright light at night is natural but it seems to me to pick up eyes better. I have used smaller LED's but have no experience with the larger spots besides halogens. I was wondering if any guys with experience with kryptons or xenon' had any input. I have a catalog from Nite Lite and was looking into one of the twill cap headlamps or something similar. I don't see that it matters too much if you use red Dykem?

I use a straight light. I can't see worth a damn at night as it is and the red lens doesn't help much. I use the last ring in the halo with the light held pretty high.

Well, I am not saying that you cannot hunt with a white light, hold it high, as you indicated, but it's a significant handicap. I strongly recommend a light coat of red Dykem on your bright light.
I had a partner that couldn't see for beans, at night, on the light or on the gun. There's no much of a solution, other than hunting with someone else that does have good night vision.

I of course don't know how you see at night but I have no problems seeing the glowing eyes as they come in. If they stop too far out to ID then I pop off the red cover or hit them with a different light to help ID before shooting. Just be ready to shoot as they usually won't hang around for long after that.
The Nite lights have worked for me in the past but really aren't enough light. I would try the Lightforce brand lights, you can see forever but they don't seem to be a harsh light.
