I got my truck all scratched up chasing Higgins on that levy, last month.
Should I first try a detail shop to rub them out, or just go to a body shop?

I work in a shop as a semi truck mechanic, It is a small family shop. They have a complete service body shop. I have seen enough rookies try the wonder cures before bringing it to a pro. Take it right to the body shop and save your self alot of time, money and headache's. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Leonard, I'm really trying hard not to snicker. Really. Desert pin-striping is a desirable custom feature in Arizona. Only soccer moms drive rubbed out 4wds. That was not a snicker. Honest.

But isn't that kind of a waste of money, to fix up things like that on a hunting rig? As long as it doesn't effect the mechanical operation, who needs it?

I was thinking about you and this post late last night. We had an outage on the most remote power line in my area. It took my partner and I almost 6 hours to find the problem, and get the lights back on.
I ran that F550 Powerstroke though more brush, and pushed open roads that haven't been touched since those poles were set 30-40 years ago. No real damage to the truck other than one flat tire, and I broke the front air dam loose on one side. But it took me 20 minutes at the gas station to pick off all of the sage, ocotillo and mesquite out of every crevice on the truck. The pin striping help me in a way. I'd been needing to wash the truck, but after last night, there's not a bit of mud to be found on it!

I'll tell you a story along the same lines, Tim.
I was alone, and had driven up a series of washes, and was miles from ANY road, when I decided to park it under a mesquite and get some sleep. Probably wasn't a mile from the border?
Anyway, apparently the Border Patrol had followed my tracks, which was the only way I had, to find my way out of there? I was a little spooked that they had probably checked me out while I slept, and then left without bothering me. In any case, driving out, I made a wrong turn somewhere, in the confusion and kept going back and trying to figure it out. Next thing you know, I had more tracks out there than Glamis on Thanksgiving weekend.
I decided to give up on following my trail and wound up just driving straight into the setting sun, knowing that eventually, I would hit the border road. It was ALL you said; sometimes I had to just wedge the truck through openings between trees, etc. Words alone do not describe the ditches, hacking branches, sand, rocks, you name it!
Funnier still, after dark, when I had found the road, made the turn and was heading north, on pavement; the Border Patrol surounded me with three units, blue and red lights everywhere!
They could not believe I came from where I did. They accused me of coming up from Mexico, as there was a cattle guard crossing nearby. After they ran my ID and took a look around, they told me to get the hell out of the area, they had some action going down that night. I cooperated, glad not to be spending the night in the bush.
That was the worst jamb I have ever been in, and I was by myself. That was the stupidest part, all the wetbacks and drug runners in the area. I think I'm a little smarter, now. Just barely.

No wonder we still have the old ugly green dodge p/u. He has done that el cheapo sray paint job already. It is an embarrassment to have parked on our property. But he loves it and won't part with it, yuck! Just need to get it into the shop and leave the new one home.

Have you ever tried to go hunting on your 43rd wedding anniversary? I'm only a "part time" predator hunter, compared to some of you guys (heros)!

Actually, he did try to set up a trip to Maui for us but it wasn't available. It is set for the following week though. He just couldn't resist a chance to go hunting so it worked well, for us both.

I just read your first post and it froze me for a second. I had to read it a few times to make sure that wasn't my wife talking. I've heard those exact words more times than I care to remember, well, "get it into the shop" is usually replaced with something about a can of gas and a match or something, I usually stop listening by then, but otherwise, same case.

By the looks of your pretty green truck it puts Len's old dodge to shame. Want to trade! Your wife hasn't seen ugly until she has seen our's! I think he has a pic posted some where. Bet he would win hands down if there was a contest. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder . Guess I am just as guilty since I have my 280z parked in our garage and can't part with it.
